Why does the color blue mean rasberry flavoring? (the random question on my profile)
Blue has become synonymous with raspberry because so many other flavors had taken up the color red (strawberries, watermelon, etc.) raspberry needed to be a different color so I could stand on its own. Also people would become confused if so many flavors were red. Candy is for enjoyment, not confusion. Furthermore blue raspberry just flows off the tongue. People can put the word blue in front of raspberry without the word sounding forced. Though some may argue that this is because people have simply been able to get used to the idea of blue raspberry, I contend that the fact that people have been able to get used to the name proves that the name works. Finally, blueberries aren’t that popular for flavored candies. After that, what else is blue? Water,.... antifreeze,... neither of which would make good candy. Unless sucking on antifreeze is a passion of yours and if that is the case I have a question for you. How do you sleep at night without dying? All things considered blue raspberry makes perfect sense in the world of flavored foods.
